Rails-to-Trails Conservancy

Trails are an amazing way to see our country, whether on foot, mountain bike, horseback, or other non-motorized means. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is a nationwide project working to turn unused, damaged, and abandoned railways into paved or boardwalk-type trails. These trails either take the place of or run alongside the old train rails.

It is best said on their website: “Rail-trails create healthier places for healthier people. They encourage healthier, more mobile lifestyles by making possible places to walk, bike and more. They develop healthier economies by promoting tourism and local businesses, and increasing property values. They support a healthier climate and environment by making active transportation a viable alternative to the automobile. They contribute to healthier, more vibrant community interaction, connecting people to the places they live, work and play. Rail-trails create a healthier future for people of all ages and abilities, all across America.”

We have been on a couple of these trails, and they’re amazing. What’s best is the history isn’t lost in the process; if there was an historic event that took place at some point (e.g.: train accident) then a memorial or other form of marker is put in that location, so those who utilize the trails can also appreciate and remember it.

Take a look at their website to find out more. More trails are under construction as we speak. Trains may not be in use as often as they once were, but the paths left behind are becoming something incredible and healthy for all.

Happy Trails,

Family Bandage

Even more idea bandages posted today

We added several idea bandage links and categories today, including Cliffs and Lookouts, Dams, Historic Points of Interest, and Sightseeing. Then we added another healing app and deal bandage.

We also started hand delivering fliers to area libraries today. Although they need to go through an approval procedure, we’re confident our fliers will be posted on their community board, increasing the number of (local) people that find out about us.

We plan to advertising on a larger scale in the future, once we get our database up and running, but this is definitely a start.

Good night,
