Before you hit the road

It’s always a good idea to have a backup road plan when you’re traveling. Locate exits and rest areas, find out where there’s construction and any necessary detours, even research places for the kiddos to take a break, like a point-of-interest.

Our lists of these resources–and more–are still growing on our Idea Bandages and Extra Aid pages. A GPS is great, but it’s always a good idea to have done a little extra research…just in case.

Right now we have highway, rest area, and traffic resources for the states from Alabama to Kentucky, and within the month we’ll have completed the remainder of the states (Louisiana to Wyoming). In the meantime, check out our list of general sites with this information, such as Interstate Rest Areas, Roadnow, and US DOT Federal Highway Admin, all provided on our website.

Bearing in mind the current season, it’s also a great idea to check the NOAA Snow and Ice Data Center, this way you’ll know where there is currently snow, ice, or sleet and what the predictions are for such conditions.

You can’t be over-prepared, only under-prepared. Let Family Bandage help you!

Safe journeys,
